Microsoft announced today an entry into the mobile computing market — Microsoft Surface. The announcement is one of the first mobile computing devices announced in the past 4 (or more) years that has really got my heart pumping.
I don’t want to take anything away from Apple and Android powered devices (and I don’t even want to mention the flop RIM Playbook), but Microsoft Surface, intended to be competitively priced with ARM-based tablet devices, should blow away the competition this fall and leading up to Christmas.
Here’s a video that will introduce you to Surface!

I'm sending this tweet via iPad. In an undetermined amount of time in the near future, I will be sending it via the Microsoft Surface. #want

HI Darren. I saw the video yesterday. Very cool. BUT very short on particulars. That said, I like how the keyboard is in the cover. See you on Twitter. (@)dan_pg
@Dan Coggins Hey Dan, I agree. It is certainly nothing more than an ad to get people talking… it should be interesting in the coming months to see all that Microsoft will be releasing.
Have to wonder why the MS Surface will be successful when the MS HP Slate was a complete bomb.
@W Cerniuk For me, the HP Slate (the original one anyway) was a bomb because it was just another tablet. There was little, if any, innovation in it and the same can be said for touch devices from Microsoft’s other partners. I applaud Microsoft for taking things into its own hands instead of depending on “less than innovative” thinking from its partners.
The Surface has a huge advantage also… it will be running Windows8 which the first, and only, operating system that will successfully bridge and unify the computing experience from phones to tablets and pcs. It will be a struggle for Microsoft as there are still a number of questions, however, I am confident they will deliver a great product for the first time in a long time.
